Are you new to bodywork? If so, then this blog post is for you! New clients often have a lot of questions about their first visit. This post will answer all of those questions and more. We’ll cover the most common types of massage and what they do, as well as how much it costs and how long your appointments should be. There’s also advice on setting up your appointment and what to wear before coming in for your session. Keep reading if you’re new or curious!

What Should You Know Before the Massage?

  • New clients should expect to fill out an intake form before the massage therapist can see them for their first session. They will need time to review your paperwork and go over any questions they may have with you, as well as discuss what type of service is best suited for you at this time.
  • Drink a lot of water. Before going to massage, keep yourself as hydrated as possible to assist with the removal of toxins that enter your circulation during treatment.
  • Communicate your needs, this includes understanding what you want out of your massage, any pain or soreness you are experiencing, and if there is anything in particular that you do not like. A good idea would be to make a list beforehand so you can remember all your needs as well as make sure you ask them during your appointment.
  • Taking a warm shower before you enter the spa is great to pamper yourself. Taking a warm shower before your treatment will help you relax both mentally and physically, which will help you and the therapist.
  • Don’t eat a full meal just before you go to the spa, because massage is known to stimulate digestion. You can take a light meal one or two hours ahead of time. “Of course, don’t starve yourself for the preceding hours because you might feel dizzy or lightheaded during the massage as a consequence.

What type of massage should you get?

The best method to address this is to consider what you want and require from the bodywork. New customers frequently arrive stating that they’ve heard massage is beneficial for something or other, but they aren’t sure which type of treatment would be the most effective way to discover their requirements.

How Often Should You Get a Massage?

New to bodywork? Don’t know where to start or how often you should get a massage? Here are some guidelines that will help.

  • There are no established guidelines for the number of massages you can receive, but a massage therapist or your doctor may be able to suggest a frequency and duration that are appropriate for you.
  • The frequency and duration of your massage will be determined by the sort of massage you want and the region you wish to target. Many medical studies recommend a particular massage frequency and duration to treat underlying health issues like pain or injury.
  • New clients, whether they have never had hands-on therapy before or if it’s been years since their last treatment may want to come in every week for the first month so we can accommodate the body’s need to repair.
  • New clients that have had regular therapy before may want to come in every other week for the first month so we can accommodate their body needs without overwhelming them with too much touch at once.

What is massage therapy good for?

  • Relieving pain and discomfort.
  • Relaxing muscles after a workout or stressful day, as well as getting rid of stress in general.
  • If you’re having trouble sleeping because it relaxes them and helps them fall asleep more quickly, then massage is the pillow for you. The optimum time for your massage is just before bedtime or even during a nap, so you wake up feeling revitalized and ready to take on the world again.
  • If you’re having trouble focusing on their daily responsibilities or preserving healthy relationships, consider booking a massage to relax you and allow you to focus better on your day-to-day duties.
