WHEELS is a bus service providing public transit in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Tri-Valley District (Southeast Alameda County), USA. Started in 1986, Wheels serves various communities in three cities and connects to Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) trains to and from the greater Bay Area (Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose) and Central Valley (Stockton, Modesto, Tracy).

The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) runs the wheels, carrying nearly 2 million passengers per year. Wheels launched its first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service on January 24, 2011, called the short “Tri-Valley Rapid,” nicknamed “R” route. The Tri-Valley Rapid, known as “the next generation transit system,” makes commuting in the Tri-Valley area (Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore) safer, simpler, and quicker. Route R was a parallel route from Stoneridge Mall to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at 6 a.m. parallel to its parent road 10.
