Therapy
Structural Integration
Structural Integration was the first scientifically validated form of bodywork and it continues to make monumental strides in the bodywork field. It is much more than just massage. It is a method of dealing with the the ill-results of accidents, injuries, surgeries, neck, back and joint pain, poor posture, chronic tension, stress, and the negative effects of emotions. Unlike other types of bodywork that focus on muscles and bones, Structural Integration affects a series of connective tissue layers called “fascia.”
The 10-Series and Integration
“The 10-Series,” is a recipe unique to Structural Integration whereby the client receives 10 individual sessions. This meticulous progression is the foundation of the work. Each session lasts approximately an hour and focuses on a particular area of the body. By the 7th session the entire body has been balanced and is ready for the last three integrative sessions. Building upon the previous 7 sessions, sessions 8, 9, and 10 move the treatment into the realm of movement. This results in positive affects on your body’s function and life activities. The 10-Series is time-tested and unique in that it has helped thousands of people attain stability, strength, support, lightness, and ease, as well as a sense of integration, wholeness, and vitality.
Fascia: the bearer of gravity, movement, injury, illness and emotion.
Fascia is a translucent covering that envelops and connects all muscles and major body segments, acting as an uninterrupted web throughout the entire body. This connective tissue is the focus of Structural Integration as it is the most pervasive organ of the body. The role of this connective tissue is to give shape, structure, and support to everything from the cellular level to the larger segments of the body. By working with fascia, practicioners are able to address the symptoms and deeper origins of injuries and illnesses. This wholistic bodywork process aims to reintegrate the body’s systems, establish balance, and derive greater physical and emotional awareness.
