About the Dougherty Community in Dublin, California
Dougherty is a California unincorporated community in Alameda County. It was linked to two distinct areas around Dublin. In 1852, James Witt Dougherty bought land in and around what is now Dublin, California. Jose Maria Amador used to own the site, which had a two-story adobe building. After Jose Maria Amador, the original owner of Rancho San Ramon, a town developed around the adobe and related ranch, which was first known as Amador’s and Amador Valley (Amador). A platted tract about two miles east of the original Dougherty was the site of the second Dougherty. It was founded and named after the Dougherty family by Charles Medley Dougherty, the son of James Witt Dougherty. It was built in the early 1900s to take advantage of a Southern Pacific Railroad line between San Ramon and Pleasanton. The zip code of Dougherty is 94568 and the main streets of the community are Dougherty Road, Scarlett Drive, and Dublin Boulevard.
